The Face Behind The Beauty Brand – Verelba Mind And Body [Interview]

Meet Veronica, founder of the Black British hair and beauty brand Verelba Mind and Body (VMB).  Veronica started the brand as she suffered long-term with eczema of the scalp. She wanted to find a natural, plant-based solution to manage it. The rest is history as they say.  Veronica shared her products, following encouragement, and VMB was born.

How it all began

Verelba launched in November 2017.  The brand name is a clever combination of Veronica’s and her husband’s name. The founder describes herself as a mature, Caribbean woman who focuses on her family. Veronica also has a love for the spoken and written word and is very much into vintage clothing. She has a growing love for entrepreneurial pursuits, hence, Verelba Mind and Body.

The know how

Veronica prides herself on being a qualified therapist. She is a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists, and actively researches natural skincare. Veronica is busy developing new products for her range. She is particularly excited about a scalp and hair wash, along with a varied cocoa butter range.

The struggle was real

Launching the website along with the business launch was admittedly a struggle. Veronica nonetheless arranged a venue and found a printer. She built a relationship with a developer and commissioned a young graphic designer also, all on a shoestring budget.

Veronica was determined to own her business nonetheless, and she actually sorted out her branding 2 years prior to her launch. She has learned that the aspects you feel less comfortable with are the exact things needed to propel you and your business forward.

The future of the Verelba Mind and Body

Though still in its infancy, Verelba has already had a few successes. Online sales, repeat customers and branching out into social media were triumphs for Veronica. The target audience is women aged 25 – 45.  Veronica likes face-to-face marketing at events and the like, as it has a more personal touch. She would like to raise more brand awareness on Instagram, especially over the next 12 months. This has worked pretty well for her so far.
